Ryno: One-Wheeled Motorcycle

Ryno Motors is a company in Portland, Oregon that is developing an electric motorcycle with a single wheel. It looks like the front of a motorcycle, and can travel more than 30 miles on a single charge.

The company negotiating with a manufacturing partner and hopes to have the motorized unicycle on the market in 2012. Retail price will be $4,200.

    When I see stuff like this it reminds me that we’re in a speculative bubble. Cash is chasing a lot of frivolous stuff right now. I mean, come on, 4200 bucks for a unicycle that goes thirty miles on a charge? Will it even be allowed on public roads? or will you have to mow people down on the sidewalk ala Seqways?

    I think it looks like fun. Not exactly something I would buy, but definitely fun. How fast is it? If they could expand the battery life past 30 miles, I wonder if people would consider using this instead of a moped.
