Hi! I'm Dane Carlson, and welcome to the Business Opportunities Weblog. I've been publishing this website, by myself, and sometimes with the help of others for over twelve years now. You'll notice two things about this site right away:

  • We have tons of content. In fact, since November 2011, I've published more than 26,000 posts on thousands of different business ideas and opportunities.
  • We don't sell much advertising. In late 2013, I realized that by selling advertising, what I was really selling was my readers. In 2014, I've already radically cut down on the number of ads and will hopefully keep cutting.

The Kauffman Foundation is in the process of building an entrepreneur walk of fame to honor those people who helped shape business our world with their companies and innovations. Some of the names on the list?

Thomas Edison, founder of 14 companies included the predecessors of General Electric, holder of 1,093 patents

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, world’s biggest software company

David Packard and Bill Hewlett, founders of Hewlett-Packard, leader in development of computing hardware

Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple Computer

Mitch Kapor, founder of Lotus Development Corp., whose software made PCs ubiquitous in the business world

Bob Swanson, co-founder of Genentech, which started the biotech industry

“These are iconic individuals who changed the world not just through their technology but by being role models for others,” said Bill Aulet, managing director of the MIT Entrepreneurship Center.
