What’s Up At Taco Bell?

It’s been a hard year for those who like to run south of the border.

First there was the lawsuit over the quality of beef in its tacos that was later dropped.

And to add spice to the menu, there is an underlying friction between Taco Bell and its franchisees, some of whom have chastised the company over what they termed ineffective marketing and have called for a review of the company’s advertising practices.

In the spring, Taco Bell’s Franchise Management Advisory Council (FRANMAC) listed 14 issues, including a call for creating effective marketing campaigns, fairness and transparency in how the company changes the contract after a franchisee signs, and reducing the cost of a new building. The group met for a convention Oct. 3 to 6 in Las Vegas and plans a “town hall call” for member franchisees on Nov. 18. Read more.
