Niche Biz: Pay-As-You-Go Office Space
Ever wish you had real office space for just a day or 30? Just imagine how many people wish they could escape the home office, even if it was only for a short period of time. Oficio, a new office rental space in Boston, hopes to tap into those people and give them the perfect place to escape. Could you use a service like this where you live?
Oficio, which opened last month, caters to start-up entrepreneurs who don’t necessarily have the means to commit to a long-term lease. The firm also aims to accommodate people who need office space only occasionally – such as a home-based accountant who wants a more professional-looking place to meet with clients.
Yadollahpour compared an Oficio membership to joining a gym: For a fee, customers can use the office a certain amount of times each month. The cheapest plan, which costs $99, allows you to use the space for up to five days a month, while an unlimited membership goes for $299.
The 2,500-square-foot space, which Yadollahpour designed, has many of the same amenities as a traditional office, such as wireless Internet access, conference rooms and a coffee machine. The owners also contracted with a team of professionals, including an accountant and a lawyer, to provide consulting services for Oficio customers who stay for at least six months.

I think this is a very cool idea. Entrepreneurs don’t necessarily have the financial means in the beginning and also need more flexibility to adapt to their ideas and locations. This idea fosters both with a very groovy concept. The partnership with the consultants and accountings could be a real strategic advantage as well. Only concerns would be crowdedness and noise.

This is really a very innovative idea to lease a property for a very short period of time. They provide the facility in a very small amount so everyone can take the advantage of it.

I must say its a very fresh and good business idea of Oficio and they will be successful for trapping the people who work from home and want to escape from home office for a very short time. The facilities provided by Oficio like internet, conferencing room etc in such a small cost will also help to attract the people. Now the only thing they need to do is marketing.

It will be boring to stay at home for a very long time and you want escape from home office for a short time, but you can’t do that because of financial problem. But thanks to Oficio that they provide this facility for a very short lease and in a cheap way.
