NeverWet: You Can’t Get It Wet!
Hydrophobic means that something repels water. Oil, for instance, is commons substance that is hydrophobic.
Well, Ross Nanotechnology has developed a super hydrophobic coating that completely repels water and heavy oils. Called NeverWet, any object coated with it literally cannot be touched by liquid. Any liquid placed on this coating is repelled and simply rolls off without touching the underlying surface. Not only is this amazing to see, but it solves a myriad of problems.

According to the company, the applications of this technology include:
- Anti-Wetting Imagine that the cardboard box that you shipped your product in was coated with NeverWet. You wouldn’t have to worry that a lazy UPS driver was going to leave the package out at the curb in the rain
- Anti-Icing If water can’t stick to an airplane’s wings, ice won’t build up.
- Anti-Corrosion NeverWet left two carbon steel plates in 1,000 hours of salt fog testing. One was coated with NeverWet, while the other was coasted with polyurethane. After the test, the polyurethane was heavily corroded, while the NeverWet one was not at all. Which coating do you want on your bridges and automobiles?
- Anti-Bacterial If your toliet plunger repels water, bacteria won’t grow on it between uses.
- Self Cleaning Dirt is attracted to water, and the NeverWet coating repels water. So if you something coated in NeverWet gets some dirt on it, all it takes to get it off is a little water. The water will grab the dirt and carry it away.
