Earlier today I mentioned in a post that I don’t carry business cards anymore. Am I alone? Leave a comment below or shoot me an email and let me know if I’m crazy.

I carry three. One for my animation studio, full contact information, one for FredtheMonkey.com that I give anyone who I talk to about what I do for a living, and now one for Animator Island which I give to animators I make contact with since it’s tips and suggestions for animators! I also try to get their cards so I can file them in my office. You never know when meeting a carpenter or marketing person at a random party will come in handy. :)

Dane – I love ya but by not carrying a business card – you’re crazy. My business card is the most powerful single business tool – dollar for dollar – I own. In this world of high tech, pimped out electronic doodads… nothing replaces the business card. Business cards are compact, energy-efficient, low-cost, low-tech, and keeps working for you hours, weeks and even years after it leaves your hands.
Here’s a tip: We’ve recently added QR codes to the backs of our cards.

Sorry Dane, you just might be alone. ;-) I carry a business card for my freelance services. You never know when you might find someone in need! In the past, I have met people who own small local companies in need of some advice. What they are usually looking for is someone who can fill small projects for them here or there. It helps to have a card on hand. If they call, great. If not, I made a new contact anyway. :-)
