Entrepreneurs vs Smart People
“I’ve found that entrepreneurs, unlike smart people, get focused on working with whatever they have at hand and doing one important thing at a time. Smart people tend to enjoy thinking about a lot of things at once.”
Perhaps all entrepreneurs are smart people, but not all smart people are entrepreneurs. In order to properly manage a company, an entrepreneur should be able to listen to really complicated matters and focus on the one detail that the company actually needs. They need to be able to say, “We’re going to do this one and we’re only going to do this one.”
What are your thoughts on being an entrepreneur, smart person, or simply both?

Entrepreneurs are smart people, but remember that not all the people have the same intelligence, maybe entrepreneurs are smart in the doing process, or they are smart in the selling process or in the creating a business process, and for what you call “smart people” are just smart in knowing things o knowing how to do things, but they lack the other intellences mentioned above, That is why we need teams, associations and advice.

‘Start where you are, and do what you can, with what you have”. And don’t be a snob…there are ideas under your feet, everywhere you look. Be humble enough to see them and learn from what is basic, gritty and right at hand. That’s probably the difference. That lack of snobbery, willingness to get on with whatever is there for us at THAT MOMENT! I am reading WALDEN now, which is why I have that turn of mind. But much can be learned from the old-shoe mental state. The trick is to use it to move your PRESENT state, using what you have, FORWARD toward what you WILL have in future..and what you CAN create, acomplish and develop!

I’ve worked with a number of entrepreneurs throughout my career and can honestly say they all aren’t the brightest people in the world but the successful ones are smart enough to recognize an opportunity and have the passion to make it happen.

I agree with previous comments. It is very interesting how some people who may be extremely bright academically lack the entrepreneurial streak necessary to be a success. To be an entrepreneur means you have to be street wise, opportunistic (not in a negative sense of course) and have the gift of the gab.
It’s like with driving! People with superior intelligence levels can often find learning to drive a more difficult task than others because they ‘over-think’ it. The same can be said for entrepreneurship.
