A recent April Fools joke generated six phone calls at the town hall this week, Zoning Enforcement Officer Geoff Colegrove said Wednesday.
A “Hooters Coming Soon†sign brought about much laughter at a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Wednesday night.
The sign was positioned along Route 17, on Main Street, near the Valero gas station.
Commission member Bonnie Ryder said she received numerous text messages about the sign and confirmed that the international chain would not be coming to Durham.
According to Colegrove, the owner of the property requested that the sign be taken down, but many residents got a kick out of it, including one commission member, who joked that the wings at Hooters are “really good.â€
