When the relationship between franchisor and franchisee is new things tend to go well. Especially, as the franchisee is dependent on the franchisor to get the new business up and running. However, as time goes by some franchisees come to resent paying royalties to the franchisor.

They complain they’re no longer receiving the same support and would be better off running their own business under their own banner. That’s why, they submit to the court, they should be able to compete after the franchise has come to an end or why they should be permitted to abandon their franchise without consequence if they’re not making the financial return they expected.
