New Company, 52apps, Turns User Ideas Into An App A Week

Virtual-Strategy Magazine:

Anyone can turn an idea for a great iPhone or iPad app into income, thanks to a new South Carolina-based company. Founded by two undergraduate engineering students, 52apps (named for the 52 new apps it plans to launch each year) uses a proprietary framework to create high-quality iPhone and iPad apps in less than a week. It bases its apps on ideas from the general public, with whom it shares royalties.

“Some of the best ideas for apps come from people who don’t have a technical background,” said company co-founder and lead server architect Christopher Thibault. “That’s why we actively solicit app ideas from the user community. We’re happy to share app revenues with those people.”

52apps solicits ideas via its website and at regularly scheduled “App Idea Day” events, the first of which it held June 15 in Columbia, S.C. The company received 60 ideas from 25 people at that event.
