‎Apprentice Loser Secures Funding For Food Shopping Website

PCR-online.biz:

After being turned down by Lord Sugar, Nick Holzherr has secured funding for his food website and app idea.

In the Apprentice final, Lord Sugar told the technology entrepreneur that the website would not be useful, saying: “Who could be bothered with it?” Holzherr has now proved Lord Sugar wrong by successfully securing £170,000 to launch the site, called Whisk.

The website and iPhone App is designed to help people find recipes and their ingredients, create detailed shopping lists and has an emphasis on reducing waste.

Whisk enables users to purchase ingredients for any recipe found on the internet, with the ability to buy everything online. The site can analyse which ingredients will go off first and work out the optimum portion amounts to cook with. After figuring out what will be left over, Whisk can also suggest recipes using only these leftovers, helping to reduce food waste.

Holzherr, along with two other finalists, lost out to recruitment manager Ricky Martin in the final of The Apprentice. Martin secured a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar for his business idea, which was a recruitment agency specialising in science and technology.
