Traditionally, when you want a professional service you need to go to their business or office to get it taken care of. Whether you’re looking for a massage or need the services of a notary. What if they could come to you instead? Servemehere.com took that idea and turned it into a reality.
Some businesses have taken a hit in the down economy, and ServeMeHere allows them to revive in a new way. Any service that is willing to travel can pick up some new customers by listing themselves on the website. As for the consumers, they’re able to search the directory for the local services they need.
David Hini-Szlos, the founder of ServeMeHere, was kind enough to answer a few of our questions about his website and what inspired him to create it.
What was the inspiration behind ServeMeHere?
The inspiration is to improve the lifestyle of millions of Americans who are tired to drive to get professional services: Massage, lawyer, therapist, personal trainer, Spa, notary….
It can be a busy mom, an eldery person, a person with no car, etc etec
Who said only pizza can be delivered at home? Services can too.
On Servemehere clients can decide when and where they want all kind of services to take places: at home, office, hotel, coffee shop, professional’ s office.
Also we are in recesssion and thousand of small business are hurt by slowing business and expenses ( office, secretary, marketing
Third, any person who has great skills to offer can use Servemehere to start and launch his business in less than 10 minutes we give them a free URL, online appointment, and and place to advertise their mobile services.
What makes your website unique?
It is the first time you have a directory of in home or in office services with quality information about the services providers, the ability to book appointment online 24/7 and rate the professionals after the services.
Quality information is the key. We want clients to feel confident when they make an appointment. That is why we ask professionals to put as many info about their business and services. Not just a line and no pictures like in many Craigslist ads.
This is the only directory where to get listed you do not need to enter your physical address….because clients will tell you where they want to meet.
How long did it take for you to build it from idea to launch?
It took 2 years to design, build and test the site. We have asked a lot of feedback from professionals and clients to add all the features requested (online appointment, text message alert, rating, pictures, video..)
We are officially online since August 2008. We are making improvement every month.
Soon we will launched a lead referral program, invoicing and emailing, Online live appointment, 1800Servemehere, and more I can not disclose now.
We are looking for new funding to help us grow. Please contact me for more info.
Do you have any goals for ServeMeHere that you would like to reach before you hit your 1 year anniversary?
We would like to get 10000 professionals services provider by August 2009 and get 2000 appointments made a month. I would like to get media exposure to spread the word.
How does your website work?
It is free to register and become a member.
Let s take an example. Joe is a massage therapist offering services in clients house and office.
On Servemehere Joe will register in the Massage Therapist category. He will have to enter info about his company, expertise, certification if any, and a description of the services offered.
The key is to select the different location of services offered: At professional office, client’ s house, client’ s office, neutral location (coffee, hotel, park..)
Professionals also have to put their schedule day and time they are available for appointment so that clients can book online 24/7. They get appointment alert on their cell phone and email.
Clients goes on Servemehere and browse by category, keyword, zip code.
They can see professionals schedule, book online and choose the location of services. They will get appointment confirmation on their cell phone and email.
Do you have any plans to start another business in the future?
Yes, i want to launch a new platform with video as support to small business owners. The new services will also be available to Servemehere members. The project will be launched end of September. Contact me for info. We are looking for partners and funding.
How have you been able to apply your previous experience as a small business financial and business consultant helped you during the process of getting launched and running your business?
First of all, my personal life help me launched the site: the idea of creating Servemehere came about when I got my first child. My wife wanted to go out to get an hair cut and massage but I had to work during the day and she did not want to leave our 2 weeks son to a babysitter, to drive and being stuck in traffic, etc etc.. So I said to her we should have the hairstylist to come to the house and believe I did not know where to look at to find one instantly.
Also as Financial Consultant I met with hundred of small business owners and I understand that office cost, marketing is key to any small business owners or any person starting a business. Servemehere give a boost right away to any business.
What has the feedback been like from your members and the businesses which use your website?
Great, We receive emails every day from small business owners thanking us for creating Servemehere.
They can use their free URL address on their business card, use their online appointment button on their blogs, web page and most important they can get new clients.
Do you have any advice that you’d like to share with a business that might be considering your website as a place to list their service?
Servemehere is a win-win solution. You get listed and you get instantly free online scheduling for your business. If you have an office you can expand your services by offering mobile services and if you do not have an office, Servemehere is the place where you can find clients looking for services providers coming to their house or office…
You have nothing to loose registering, just a couple minutes to enter your info.
