The new trend in massage in Asia? Blind masseuses!

Entrepreneur Adrian Lee believes that doing business is not only about earning profit. He also wants to create jobs, especially for people who have less chances of getting hired.

Last March, Lee ventured into the wellness industry. He opened Healing Hands Therapeutic Massage Centre, which employs blind masseurs, in Mandaue City [Philippines].

“The interest came when I tried a massage by a blind masseur in Cagayan de Oro City. I found the massage so relaxing, unlike the commercial ones where you feel pain after.

So I thought of (obtaining a franchise),” Lee said.

But the owners of the massage center in Cagayan de Oro were not ready to open a franchise of the business so Lee decided to establish his own. They advised him to hire blind masseurs and masseuses who are graduates of the therapeutic massage course of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center (AVRC).
