In China, in the heart of panda country, a resourceful business has created “panda poo tea”. There’s no actual excrement in the tea, instead, the green tea is grown on a farm fertilized exclusively with panda manure.

The Telegraph has more:

“I have started growing the tea on around three acres of land,” said Mr An. “The first harvest should be ready in the Spring.”

He added that the tea would be rich in nutrients from the panda’s excrement and entirely organic.

The tea is priced at $35,000 per pound. Unfortunately, he hasn’t found any buyers yet so he may need to find another use for the five tons of waste he’s collected.

    Hello Dan,

    Thanks for your blog!

Maybe they must follow the same business plan as Kopi Luwak??

    Cheers

You beat me to the punch. I was just about to post about the tea, too. :-) I am not surprised he hasn’t found any buyers, though. The tea is priced way too high, in my opinion.
