Niche Advertising: World’s First Interactive Billboard

Londonist:

Set up just off Tottenham Court Road, the billboard allows passersby to have pictures taken of themselves and the words “I LOVE YOU MUM” — something that could be handy ahead of next Sunday. As Simove says, “I wanted an original way to send my Mum a Mothers Day greeting — greeting cards and flowers are a bit old hat, but a billboard, now that’s exciting! I quickly realised that I could design a billboard so that other people could interact with it as well and send their mothers a fun ‘photo greeting’ too”.

How could you use interactive advertising to promote your business?

I think that this kind of bill board advertising is really great. Over the past years with the development of new technologies I’ve found that advertisers have somewhat pushed the boundaries with regards to privacy and intrusiveness.

That being said, we’ve clearly seen an improvement in regards to innovation and in the ways to reach the target audience. For example advertising via Bluetooth (whilst next to bill boards at ad shelters/transit terminals) has proven to be very effective. Another example would be advertising via mobile apps on the iPhone or other smartphones.

That’s my take on it all. Nice post!
