I don’t know if this is real or not, because no companies are mentioned by name:

Luxury ocean liners in Russia are offering pirate hunting cruises aboard armed private yachts off the Somali coast.

Wealthy punters pay £3,500 per day to patrol the most dangerous waters in the world hoping to be attacked by raiders.

When attacked, they retaliate with grenade launchers, machine guns and rocket launchers, reports Austrian business paper Wirtschaftsblatt.

So the rich pay somebody to embark in a place where you entice a person or persons into attacking you so you can kill them.
Alternatively, this could be an ingenious scam perpetrated by the pirates themselves.

This is a very good move by Russia because it will eleminate the pirates from the particular place.

    It isn’t real.

I spent quiet a few hours trying to track this down for a possible blog post. All these reports trace back to a single Austral newspaper that labeled the article as a satire.

Thankfully vacationers are not paying to hunt humans . . . yet.

    Thanks for the update Wil.

I definitely agree that the whole pay money to hunt pirates is not real, however, the pirates themselves still exist and are definitely well known…i however don’t think the solution to getting rid of pirates is by allowing people to hunt and kill them…what makes the person who hunts the pirate any better then the actual pirate themselves?
