Driven by her own struggle to find stylish swimwear, a student-turned-entrepreneur will be launching a range of swimming costumes for curvier women.
Alex Gibson, 22, who has been learning business skills at Manchester Business School’s Enterprise Centre, will start production of her Beach Bacchanal range this month.
After submitting a business plan for her new venture, she has been offered a government loan of £2,500 from a £180m fund to help start-ups and small businesses grow.
Her brand, which allows customers to customize their swimwear, was also a runner up in The University of Manchester’s annual business plan competition Venture Further.
Alex will liase with customers about designs and materials online.
She has also pledged to use only British manufacturers.
Alex said: “Beach Bacchanal is a D-plus cup swimwear brand, which offers styles normally only available for women with smaller sized breasts.
