Hi! I'm Dane Carlson, and welcome to the Business Opportunities Weblog. I've been publishing this website, by myself, and sometimes with the help of others for over twelve years now. You'll notice two things about this site right away:

  • We have tons of content. In fact, since November 2011, I've published more than 26,000 posts on thousands of different business ideas and opportunities.
  • We don't sell much advertising. In late 2013, I realized that by selling advertising, what I was really selling was my readers. In 2014, I've already radically cut down on the number of ads and will hopefully keep cutting.

For today only, the Kindle version of my friend Kriti Vichare’s book Cheating on Your Corporate Job: A Comic Look at the Startup Dream is free today on Amazon.

Here’s a sample chapter or two.

More about the book:

“I want to be my own boss” is commonly heard from cubicle dwellers around the world. This quick, fun comic book provides the perspective needed for those in the corporate rat race who are also considering starting their own business.

Launching a new venture isn’t as glamorous as it seems. The startup journey has been romanticized in movies and literature. The truth is it’s hard work and the roads to success are littered with failures and huge lessons. The reality is if you can’t laugh and learn, entrepreneurship may not be for you!

This book is created by Kriti and Shivraj Vichare, and illustrated by Kriti Vichare. They are the creators of #entrepreneurfail. Their content is inspired by the foolish ironies they have done and seen in their startup experiences.

“Cheating on Your Corporate Job: A Comic Look at the Startup” has 40 comics and descriptions about the nuances and the hilarious ironies between corporate and startup roles. The topics range from health care to best practices to salary to ownership.

The book is for the kind of person who is just itching to make the leap from their cushy corporate job into the world of startups. This book is also for students who are having a difficult time deciding if the corporate or startup route is right for them.
