Known as “the hand that makes a difference,” EvenPar Enterprises is a company that was launched by Michael Duncan to help people with a variety of disabilities do some of the things they couldn’t do before. Whether they need to hold a rake, wash a car, or play golf, the Lend-A-Hand can help them do it all.
I recently asked Michael a few questions about this unique device.
Tell us a little about Lend-A-Hand.
Lend-A-Hand is the FIRST and ONLY universal assistant device. It was invented and developed by Michael Duncan CEO/President of Even Par Enterprises, Inc. to help the physically challenged and able bodied individual. It helps provide additional arm support, leverage and strength while raking, painting and other day to day activities.
Lend-A-Hand is a patent pending assistant device. Once put on, Lend-A-Hand increases mobility while decreasing the strain off of the individual’s shoulders, arms, back and legs. Lend-A-Hand helps allow the individual to play golf, wash cars, paint, rake, sweep, wash floors, go fishing and endless other activities and duties.
What inspired it?
Approximately four years ago, a young lady contacted me about playing the game of golf. The challenge, however, was that she had suffered a stroke at the age of twenty paralyzing her right side. Now, she wears a brace to support her right leg and can only use her left arm for swinging the club. I met with her at the local driving range to find out what ability she had. As I observed her swinging capabilities, I was able to develop the concept for Lend–A–Hand®. While wearing Lend–A–Hand she is able to play golf using only her left arm. From this experience I was able to find many additional uses for physically challenged and able bodied individuals. I have found Lend–A–Hand to help people with arthritis, carpal tunnel, stroke, cerebral palsy, Rett Syndrome and amputees to name a few.
How does it work?
Lend-A-Hand Instructions
1) First decide which Arm or Leg you will be using Lend-A-Hand on.
2) Choose 3 out of the 5 straps that you will use. (Pick appropriate lengths for upper, middle and lower forearm or leg).
3)If using Lend-A-Hand on RIGHT forearm, place (fleece side down) in front of you with the opening of the sleeve facing away from you. Slide the shortest strap (Velcro side up) of the 3 you’ve chosen all the way through the top right D-ring and then snap it closed. Next, follow the same procedure for the middle length and longest straps.
4) If using Lend-A-Hand on LEFT forearm, place (fleece side down) in front of you with the opening of the sleeve facing away from you. Slide the shortest strap (Velcro side up) of the 3 you’ve chosen all the way through the top left D-ring and then snap it closed. Next, follow the same procedure for the middle length and longest straps.

Do you have any plans to expand your product line? What can we expect?
I am always looking 5 years ahead. So are working on an all inclusive Lend-A-Hand plus, other adaptable item for Lend-A-Hand.
What separates you from other assistance products available on the market?
First, of all there is nothing like Lend-A-Hand on the market, it is truly one of a kind.
Second, it is a product that allows an individual to perform 10, 15 or more various functions with the one product (Lend-A-Hand). No other product allows this function ability.
Do you have any goals you’d like to accomplish over the next year or so?
Yes, to achieve SUCCESS not just financially but accomplishing the things I was given the opportunity to do. Marketing Lend-A-Hand worldwide allowing people to get back a part of life that has been taken.
What are some lessons your business has taught you?
Believe in god, Believe in oneself, don’t be afraid to take the risk and don’t EVER EVER give up.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I have been blessed to have different products and patents. But the Lend-A-Hand has given me the most personal satisfaction. To have individual with tears in their eyes come up and thank you for giving back a part of life that has been taken is priceless. No words need to be spoken.
Do you have any advice you’d like to offer fellow entrepreneurs who are just getting started?
Don’t be afraid to believe in one self and go after your dreams. True entrepreneurs aren’t afraid to risk it all and write the books for the rest to follow. Remember, amateurs built the ark, Professionals built the Titanic.
