- 2004 – The Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics announces the discovery of the universe’s largest known diamond, white dwarf star BPM 37093. Astronomers named this star “Lucy†after The Beatles’ song “Lucy in the Sky with Diamondsâ€.
