World’s Smallest, Self-Balancing Unicycle

Shane Chen believes his invention could replace bikes or cars for short trips. Whether that is true, we will have to wait and see. However, we can say that his step on and go style unicycle is very unique!

According to Kamas Katu, Chen is a long time inventor, with many inventions already under his belt, but he feels the Solowheel will be his biggest hit yet. It certainly did well at the 2011 Toy Fair in New York.

The Solowheel is sort of like the Segway. It balances itself with gyroscopes, doesn’t require pedaling and goes up to 12 mph for about an hour on a single charge. To go, you lean forward. To stop, you lean back.

Chen thinks it would be perfect for in-town commutes. [He said] most people get [how to ride] it in about an hour.

Chen thinks it will be ready for market in two months. He’s already presold 100.
