With thousands of students returning to Iowa City for another semester of classes, one new business aims to help those students as they leave home and their parents.
Your Campus Mom LLC, owned by Leslie O’Hare, will lend a helping hand through the sometimes rough transition to college life. She said her clients will be primarily students with ADHD, executive functioning disorder, anxiety and other learning disabilities.
O’Hare said the services she offers will help fill the gap between what various University of Iowa departments can provide students and what many young academics previously received from their parents.
“Just doing mom-type things,” O’Hare said, who moved to Iowa City this spring after living for more than 25 years in the Chicago area.
Traditional services offered by Your Campus Mom include backpack/desk/room organization, routine check-ins, healthy meal shopping, prescription pickup, laundry and other customizable services.
