Invention Helps Ear Infections

WashingtonExaminer.com:

A professor at Georgia Tech and Emory University wants to help children with ear infections, and he stands to make a little money in the process.

Wilbur Lam, along with colleagues in California, is developing iPhone technology designed for parents to photograph or video their child’s eardrum, and then send images to a physician. It would require a software application and a hardware attachment called Remotoscope.

Lam, a physician, says his invention could help parents avoid trips to the doctor’s office and emergency room.

Pediatricians, he said, also could to track an infection over several days, allowing them to differentiate between bacterial and viral infections.
