Chicago, Ill. – November 4, 2014 – Cheng Cohen LLC has earned a Tier 1 spot in the U.S. News – Best Lawyers(R) “Best Law Firms” for franchise law both nationally and in the Chicago metropolitan listing. The listing, released yesterday, marks the fifth time the law firm has been awarded Tier 1 Chicago recognition, each year since the award’s inception. The 2015 listing is the fourth year Cheng Cohen has received Tier 1 national designation.

Ranked firms, presented in tiers, are listed on a national and/or metropolitan scale. Awards were given in 74 national practice areas and 120 metropolitan practice areas.

Firms included in the 2015 “Best Law Firms” list are recognized for professional excellence with persistently impressive ratings from clients and peers for a combination of quality law practice and breadth of legal expertise. The 2015 rankings are based on the highest number of participating firms and highest number of client ballots on record. To be eligible for a ranking, a firm must have a lawyer listed in The Best Lawyers in America, which recognizes the top four percent of practicing attorneys in the U.S. More than 17,000 attorneys provided over 600,000 law firm assessments, and almost 7,500 clients provided more than 40,000 evaluations.

The U.S. News – Best Lawyers(R) “Best Law Firms” rankings are based on a rigorous evaluation process that includes the collection of client and lawyer evaluations, peer review from leading attorneys in their field, and review of additional information provided by law firms as part of the formal submission process. To be eligible for a ranking, a law firm must have at least one lawyer listed in the 20th Edition of The Best Lawyers in America(c) list for that particular location and specialty.
The 2015 “Best Law Firms” list will be featured in two publications, distributed later in this month. The national first-tier rankings will be featured in the second edition of the “Best Law Firms” Legal Issue.
