Franchise Founder Aims to Make a Major Dent on Carbon Neutrality

Carbon Recall’s mission is to spread clean energy solutions across America. As part of its mission, the company ensures that customers get the most out of their energy dollars: the most energy generated, the most utility savings and the most comfortable, healthy and efficient clean energy lifestyle.

We recently sat down with the founder of Carbon Recall, LLC, Darko Kapelina, to discuss the franchise, where he sees it headed in the next five years and what he looks for in potential franchisees.

What’s special about the franchise?

Basically, Carbon Recall affiliates improve people’s lives. Carbon Recall provides its affiliates a complete suite of clean renewable energy solutions for their local residential and commercial property clients. Carbon Recall affiliates help their clients go from conserving energy, to creating energy, to energy independence.

What is the idea behind the franchise?

There are 140 million residential and commercial properties in the U.S. and over 90 percent were built before 2005; therefore, 126 million properties in the U.S. are very inefficient consumers of energy. According to the EPA, residential and commercial properties account for 38 percent of total U.S. energy consumption and 30 percent of the energy used is wasted, making the market opportunity for Carbon Recall’s unique fully integrated clean renewable energy solutions very compelling. The residential clean renewable energy services sector alone is already a $30 billion industry and it’s projected to grow to 125 billion by 2025. How many business sectors that you know of are projected to grow by 300 percent over the next 10 years?

How does Carbon Recall compare to its competition?

Very few companies have fully integrated clean renewable energy solutions for residential clients offered locally, and only a handful compete effectively in the commercial energy use mitigation and automation area.

What do you look for in a potential franchisee?

Entrepreneurial spirit, college education or equivalency, excellent people skills, financial liquidity and drive.

Where do you see Carbon Recall in five years?

Established franchise presence in most states with international expansion.

Can you describe a typical day in the life of a franchisee?

A relentless focus on growing exponentially so they can work on their business vs. working in their business.

What’s your background?

Entrepreneurship and successful accomplishments in five different and unrelated industries.

What motivates you to keep going?

With 18 clean energy affiliates in six states and Washington, D.C., we are barely scratching the surface on carbon reduction. My objective with Carbon Recall, now that we have converted our operation to a franchise system, is to grow to over one thousand franchises nationally by 2025 — then we will make a major dent on carbon neutrality.

If you were to start again, what would you do differently?

Leverage the cloud earlier.

Please tell us your secret to success…

Drive and focus.

What is the worst job you have ever had and what did you learn from it?

I learned something from every job.

What is one thing that really excites you?

Growth.

Don’t lose sight of your goals
