When Lucas Walker and Riley Wallbank couldn’t find single-ingredient treats with large enough quantities for their three Boxers, they embarked upon a new business opportunity.

Initially, they were making the dog treats for family members and close friends. Demand grew, and so did their online business. When Lucas was let go from his job in March 2015, they decided to attend the Canadian Pet Expo. That’s when they knew there was enough interest to take the business a step further.

Today, Treats Happen is a line of dehydrated dog treats and pet care products sold online and shipped everywhere in the U.S. and Canada and sold in 12 pet stores in the greater Toronto area.

Their tasty dog treats are healthy, natural and safe with no preservatives, salts, colors, chemicals or fillers. They are made fresh to order from locally sourced livestock and dehydrated in Toronto. Walker’s and Wallbank’s small, home-based business can produce 400 to 700 bags of treats a week, with plans to eventually move to a production facility.

They also love loading up the trailer and taking their show on the road. If you happen to be in the area, be sure to check them out at an event or two.
