Once a week or so I’m going to profile the very special people who read this site. If you’d like to participate, shoot me an email.
Today’s profile is of Angela Shupe, a longtime blogger for this site.
Hi Angela, tell us about yourself.
As you already know, my name is Angela. I am 25 years old, and I live in Michigan. I am the mom of a feisty 6 year old girl. She keeps me on my toes! I am also a college student at University of Phoenix. I am just a few weeks shy of finishing my first year, and so far I am doing so with a shiny 4.0! I am currently in the Associate of Arts program with a concentration in Foundations of Business (AAFB). I want to move on to my Bachelor of Science degree in business/e-business after I am done.
Tell us about your work or business.
I am a freelance writer for you and virtual assistant. Nothing can beat the work I do, I love it! It doesn’t matter if I am writing or just acting as an assistant. Although I have not taken on any extra work since I started school, it is definitely something I love doing.
How long have you been reading the site?
Since I started posting here in March of 2007.
What’s your favorite kind of post?
My favorite posts are the interviews, of course! However, it is not because I do a lot of them. I enjoy contacting the owners, learning about their business, and sharing that information with others. I can often remember the basis of my favorite interviews a year or more after it was completed. Some of the advice they have shared tends to stick with me.
Do you have a specific favorite post?
I have quite a few favorites. If I must limit it to one, though, it would be the Sippy Straw Cleaner interview. I found Jennifer Reyes particularly inspiring. Not only did she create a viable product, she did so in three months! In just over a week, she launched, brought in two wholesale accounts, and began distributing internationally. When people imagine the stereotypical super mom, I cannot help but wonder if they are thinking of her.
Is there something that you’d like us to be writing about that we’re not?
Personally, I would not mind more information related to ecommerce. However, I think that would come down to me finding it first? 😉
What other sites do you read regularly?
I guess I am a little old fashioned. I do not read many websites for entertainment. However, I have a large magazine subscription list that includes Star Lee Magazine’s Success on Your Terms, Time magazine, Fast Company, and Inc.
Is the glass half empty or half full?
Half-full, of course!
