A West Seattle business is helping people enjoy the benefits that come with fresh-baked goodies. Founded by Amanda Nokes, Manderin Cookie Company has people near and far craving a delicious cookie from scratch reports nwsource.
Since April 2009, after being laid off from local small-business-support website Biznik, Nokes, an avid baker since childhood, has been baking, packaging, mailing and delivering her homemade cookies to lucky and well-loved recipients.
“After years of people saying that I should bake for a living, I just decided to do it,” Nokes explains. “It’s a lot of fun, and a great way to get away from it all and to provide smiles for my friends and family.”
Manderin’s six cookie flavors are named after her family members, because, Nokes says, “cookies are about family and feeling homey.” One exception is Crazy Love, a twist on the classic chocolate chip cookie that Nokes has been perfecting for 20 years.
All Manderin cookies are baked to order using local ingredients whenever possible. They come in batches of 24 for $38. Shipping is $7 (within the U.S.), but delivery within the Seattle area is free. Order about four or five days in advance and choose two- or three-day delivery (expedited and overnight shipping is also available at additional cost). Orders are shipped on Mondays and Thursdays. Sample packs are available for those customers who can’t possibly settle on just one variety.
