Latina Clothes for Special Occasions

When Norma Suarez learned people were driving from Washington state down to Los Angeles for latino clothing for special dresses and accessories, she realized this was a business opportunity she couldn’t pass up.

Bellingham Herald:

Earlier this month Suarez opened Sueno Celebrations, a store focused on selling products designed for women and children for a variety of events, including weddings, first communions, quinceaneras, baptisms and formal parties. The store is at 309 Telegraph Road in the Meridian Place retail center, near the Mi Mexico restaurant.

While the store’s only been open a few weeks, Suarez said she’s already enjoying the level of enthusiasm that spills out of the customers, particularly those preparing for a quinceanera, the celebration of a girl’s 15th birthday. A quinceanera is considered a rite of passage from childhood to young womanhood in many cultures, particularly in Latin America. Just seeing the excitement in the customers makes it a worthwhile experience, she said.

“It’s a very exciting time for both the parents and the daughters,” Suarez said.

To figure out what she wanted in the store, Suarez also took a trip to California, touring the Los Angeles area to see what was popular in those stores. Along with a variety of dresses, headpieces and gowns, her store has assorted accessories, including crystal bouquets, pillows and other keepsakes.
