The name Passion Parties seems self-explanatory, but the goals of the Las Vegas-based company go far beyond selling adult toys at in-home parties.

“We’re always quite aware of what our mission is and what we’re about,” said Pat Davis, president of Passion Parties. “We’re very proud of how we help women, and when we help women, we help the people in their lives: their husbands and families.”

Davis started as a business consultant with Passion Parties in 1998, four years after the company was founded. She became president in 2001 and shares ownership with three partners. When she took over, one of the first things she focused on was changing the perception of Passion Parties as just a sex-toy company.

There are products on display at the parties and some of them are, uh, creatively designed, but it’s not just about that. Less than half of the products sold are the so-called toys.

“We call it the ultimate girls’ night in, it’s going to be fun,” Davis said. “But the women also know they are coming there for education, which is huge for us.”

The first step in education, according to Davis, is to understand one’s own body and then to be able to tell a partner what is pleasurable.

“Everybody has a sex life good, bad or indifferent, or wishes they did,” Davis said. “In today’s hectic world, you’ve got to learn to take time for each other, so we really try to build relationships, too. Passion Parties helps open up those lines of communication.”
