Many entrepreneurs think working from a home office will be a dream come true– until they give it a try. The reality of working from home, however exciting the prospect, can be a shock to the system. It’s not all about fuzzy bunny slippers and skipping the day’s shave. As stated on Entrepreneur.com.

There are so many different aspects and rules when creating a home office in order to keep it within state regulations. Such as your taxes. A home office can not be used for anything other than an office (place of business and nothing else). Sure you could probably get away with turning on the television every once in a while, but if you did this on a regular basis you could be in some serious trouble.

Also, when creating your home office you need to think about what type of business you are and if it will be necessary for you to meet with your clients on a regular basis. If you will be seeing your clients all the time then you definitely want to make sure you create a well business like atmosphere, this means no mobiles or cute butterfly decorations on the walls.

Some people experience the feeling of loneliness or isolation when working from home rather than in the corporate office. They come to miss the interaction with their boss and fellow co-workers. After some time this can be very distracting to a lot of people and cause their productivity to go down in numbers. So to avoid this feeling and damage to your productivity, make sure you schedule regular meetings or lunches with your fellow co-workers so you can get out of the house and into the real world again to alleviate your loneliness.
