Batteries Plus Accelerates Growth

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Hartland-based franchising company and retailer Batteries Plus LLC continues to grow at a rapid rate, thanks to the proliferation of battery-powered portable devices and the deep pockets of the firm’s owner.

The company’s growth curve has steepened since Roark Capital Group, a private equity firm that specializes in franchising, bought Batteries Plus in late 2007.

Over the last two years, the growth has accelerated still further.

For the 10 years before Roark’s acquisition, Batteries Plus added about 22 stores a year on average. Since then, it has averaged 46 new stores annually, with more than 55 in each of the last two years.

The count now stands at 500 stores.
