The “ButterBurger” is coming to metro Denver.

The Culver’s Frozen Custard & ButterBurgers family-restaurant chain of Prairie du Sac, Wis., breaks ground next week on its first metro-area restaurant as well as on a Greeley location. Culver’s franchisee Phil Dalton plans to start construction July 11 on a restaurant at 9790 Washington St. in Thornton. The location will seat 120 people and employ 65 workers. It’s scheduled to open in October.

Greg Mueller, a Culver’s franchisee for the last five years, expects to start building a new prototype restaurant for the chain — featuring a roomy interior, modern decor and outdoor seating — in Greeley on July 12. The restaurant will be located at 3502 W. 29th St.

The 140-seat location should employ 60 full- and part-time people and open in September.
