Coffee Republic Says Some Ground To Make Up On Franchise Rollout

Coffee Republic PLC’s recently appointed chairman Peter Breach said at today’s annual general meeting that the company’s franchise rollout has some ground to make up and is not as advanced as he and chief executive Steven Bartlett, also recently appointed, would have wished.

He said the firm will accelerate its franchising programme, with up to 20 bars to be opened in each UK region over the next 3-5 years. He added that it was also in talks to develop franchises abroad.

Remaining espresso bars in the UK will all be converted to deli format by early 2007, he said, and a new retail outlet concept, Coffee Republic Served Here, is being introduced.
