Great American Cookie Co. Sold

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

The owner of clothier Bill Blass, ice cream chain Marble Slab Creamery and shoemaker The Athlete’s Foot has bought Atlanta-based Great American Cookie Co.

NexCen Brands, which is headquartered in New York but operates out of Atlanta, bought from Mrs. Fields Famous Brands for $93.7 million, NexCen said Tuesday.

Robert W. D’Loren, president and chief executive of NexCen, said Great American Cookie is a strong brand with an opportunity to grow.
