NexCen Brands Inc. is beefing up its executive team to manage upcoming expansion.
Even with the soft U.S. economy, the brand management firm said it is not slowing its acquisition pace and confirmed plans to buy three to 5 new brands each year in 2008 and 2009.
NexCen already owns The Athlete’s Foot – first purchased in November 2006 – and high-end footwear retailer The Shoe Box, as well as fashion brand Bill Blass, home furnishings brand Waverly and quick-service brands Maggie Moo’s and Marble Slab Creamery. Robert D’Loren, president and CEO of NexCen, said the addition of a chief marketing officer and a new CFO were necessary given the company’s plans for ongoing worldwide growth – its brands are now in 50 countries – and management of 1,900 franchised stores.
‘NexCen is a very young company, but one that has grown incredibly fast,’ D’Loren told Footwear News last week. ‘Our company has outgrown some of our people, and we need more sophisticated players. That is just part of the process – you get the players, you get the results.’ More.
