Burger King Franchisee To Open Store On Philo Road In Urbana

Urbana/Champaign News-Gazette:

The King is coming to Urbana.

Burger King plans to open a restaurant in the former Centrue Bank building on Philo Road, possibly in December, according to Maruti Seth, the franchisee who operates Burger Kings in Danville, Tuscola, Rantoul and Tilton.

“I think we’ll do very good,” Seth said Friday. “There’s a big base of residents right around it. A lot has changed on Philo Road, especially at the intersection” with Florida Avenue.

The Pointe, a student apartment complex with 432 residents, recently opened near the southeast corner of that intersection, and facade renovations at Sunnycrest Mall are under way. Heartland Bank & Trust recently announced plans for a new branch on Philo Road, and Meijer opened a new superstore last week near the intersection of Philo and Windsor roads.
