Carlson Plans Seven New Thai Locations

Bangkok Post (Thailand):

Carlson Hotels Worldwide-Asia Pacific plans to operate seven new hotels in Thailand by 2010.

Four of the hotels will be in Bangkok: the 436-room Radisson Hotel Bangkok Sathorn and 170-room Radisson Suites Bangkok Sukhumvit – both scheduled for next year – and the 142-room Park Plaza Bangkok Asoke and 321-room Regent Bangkok, slated for 2010.

The other three hotels will be in southern resorts: the Radisson Plaza Phuket Panwa Beach, the Regent Phuket Cape Panwa and the Radisson Resort & Spa in Krabi.

Martin Rinck, president and managing director of CHW-AP, said the company saw high growth potential in the Asia Pacific market, particularly in China, India, Thailand and Australia.

“With the global economic slowdown, all segments worldwide have been affected by problems, especially in the United States and Europe. A lot of funds need to rest somewhere and Asia should be the best place for them,” he said.
