Anytime Fitness Brings 24-Hour Gyms To Ohio

Bizjournals.com:

Anytime Fitness, a Hastings, Minn.-based 24-hour fitness franchise, is adding at least 15 locations in Ohio soon, where it already operates 16 sites.

Berry Herbert, an Anytime franchisee, and his business partner Jerry Clum, are set to open a location in Lebanon the week of Nov. 17, a Marion gym in December and another location in Piqua next year. Herbert recently opened a Columbus gym to go along with his two Springfield locations.

Instead of the “big box” gym with amenities galore, Herbert said consumers want a convenient and cheap place to get their workout. He and other franchisees say there is a market that isn’t being served.

Anytime charges $15,000 for franchise fees but that number decreases if a franchisee buys more than one territory. Herbert said the total cost of opening a new location varies between $150,000 and $350,000 per gym.
