An Aaron’s furniture, appliances and electronics franchise wants to come to Bathurst.
Doug Warren, director of franchising for Aaron’s Sales and Lease Canada, said a store should be opening next spring.
“We’ve got one in Moncton and one in Halifax and we’re going to be spreading out into the northern parts of New Brunswick over the next year or so and Bathurst is one of our targeted areas,” he said.
Mr. Warren said Bathurst came onto Aaron’s radar screen roughly two years ago and things have started coming to fruition in recent months.
“The whole country was plotted out essentially and then there were priority markets that were set out. From there…we moved to those sort of second tier population areas.”
Mr. Warren noted that Bathurst’s geographical location makes a good case for an Aaron’s franchise.
“It’s a combination of demographics, population, the fact that it’s a regional centre for that area. Aaron’s can go in any town over 10,000 people. We’ve been successful doing that across North America.”
