Overland Park Franchisee Is Buying Denver Area Pizza Huts

Kansas City Star:

NPC International Inc. of Overland Park, the world’s biggest Pizza Hut franchisee, has agreed to buy 42 Denver area Pizza Huts from Pizza Hut Inc. for $19 million.

As part of the deal, NPC also will sell 55 Pizza Huts in the Evansville, Ind., and Shreveport, La., areas to Pizza Hut Inc. for $18.5 million.

The exchange is similar to one by the same companies last month, when NPC bought 191 Pizza Huts and sold 70 to Pizza Hut Inc., whose headquarters are in Dallas.

The deal helps the strategic goals of both companies, said Jim Schwartz, NPC’s chairman and chief executive.
