Walton College Faculty Wins Franchise Research Award

Robert E. Stassen, associate professor of marketing and logistics, in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, has won the Arthur S. Karp Research Award for the “Best Applied Paper” award from the International Franchise Association Education Foundation.

Stassen coauthored the paper titled, “The Effective Delivery of Franchisor Services: Comparison of U.S. and German Support Practices for Franchisees.” He will share a $5,000 award and a stipend to travel to the 2009 International Franchise Association conference, Feb. 14-17, in San Diego, Calif.

The International Franchise Association, founded in 1960, is an organization of franchisors, franchisees, and suppliers.

Stassen’s paper was presented at the 21st annual International Society of Franchising conference in Las Vegas in February 2007 and has been published in the Journal of Marketing Channels. His research focuses on franchising, distribution, retailing and research methodologies…
