Pizza Hut Franchisee Fined For Breaking Labor Laws

KPTM-TV:

The owners of a Pizza Hut restaurant in Superior have paid $7,865 in fines for violating child-labor laws.

The U.S. Labor Department ordered the fines after investigating practices at Hart Management Inc.’s Superior location of Pizza Hut. Hart is based in Blair, Neb., and owns 10 Pizza Hut restaurants in the region.

Officials said Thursday the Superior Pizza Hut violations were having three 17-year-olds regularly operating a car, two minors performing baking duties and five young employees who worked later than 8 p.m. between Labor Day and June 1.

The Labor Department’s Wage and Hour office in Des Moines, Iowa, says it is working with restaurants in the region to improve compliance with labor laws.
