Bill Providing Tax Credits For Military Veterans Who Purchase Franchises Introduced

Today, bipartisan legislation was introduced that will assist military veterans who are transitioning from active service to civilian life realize their dream of small-business ownership. Rep. Aaron Schock, R-Ill., and Rep. Leonard Boswell, D-Iowa, introduced the “Help Veterans Own Franchises Act of 2009.”

The bill would provide a tax credit for franchisors who offer military veterans a discounted initial franchise fee and also would provide tax relief to the new veteran franchise business owner.

The International Franchise Association provided support for and was instrumental in the introduction of this legislation that will assist military veterans during the challenging economic environment.
