In-line skates on and breakfast at the ready, staffers at Birch Run’s new SONIC Drive-In restaurant served up their first meals at 7 a.m. today. The restaurant at 8560 Main is Michigan’s fifth.
Until today, the nearest to mid-Michigan was on South Miller in Flint Township.
The SONIC has 28 drive-in stalls where you can park and order your food with the push of a button in what was Suski Chevrolet Buick Inc.’s used car lot.
Birch Run resident Leo D. Rock, 46, arrived early and ordered a Coke a 7 a.m.
“I wanted to be the first one,” he said.
The franchisee, Flint Township-based Miller-Apple, hired 158 part-time employees for the Birch Run restaurant. The SONIC Drive-In franchisee opened the area’s first drive-In to crowds of people this past fall in Flint Township. Read full article.
