The Pelham resident, who was a victim of downsizing in the telecommunications industry last year, is reopening Hoover’s Play It Again Sports franchise this week. The store, which sells new and used sporting equipment, once had two locations in the city, but the previous franchisee exited the business in the spring of 2008.

Vested interest

Play It Again Sports buys “gently-used” sporting equipment, such as cleats, golf irons and baseball bats and gloves, offering cash or store credit. Then the store sells the merchandise at a discount from regular retail prices. Full story.
