Clued-Up Treasure Hunter Steve Ridd Fuels A Passion For Action

I can giggle for days when I know I’ve written a great clue,” he says.

Not only is ex-soldier Steve, 44, having fun but his company, aptly named Treasure Trails is thriving as tens of thousands of people nationwide get the bug.

“The idea is to set up local walking trails which get people of all ages out and about exploring their area in a way which is fun, healthy and informative,” says Steve, from his HQ in Truro, Cornwall.

His passion for action is working.

He has sold licences up and down the country for other trail writers, while celebrities including Dawn French and Gary Lineker have had a go.

“It’s so straightforward but fun,” explains Steve. “Each trail, which costs £5, has clues that you need to find or solve to lead you around a route that shows you the best historic and picturesque sights of that area.

“The trails are themed – either Murder Mystery, Treasure Hunt or Spy Mission – so once you have solved all the clues you are left with the whodunnit, the location of the treasure, or the code to foil a plot.” Read full story.
