Town Burger Kings To Get New Operator

Barnstable Patriot:

The two Barnstable Burger King locations will be under new management, as applications for new food service licenses were submitted to the town.

Barnstable’s Burger Kings have been operated by the Wyman family since the first one opened on North Street in 1972. The Wymans would later expand to operate 16 locations from Beverly to Dennis, including the store at Route 6’s Exit 6 plaza.

The new operator will be LBK, LLC, based in Waltham, which applied for new licenses, not transfers from the existing operation. The corporation was formed in November by Larry Kohler, who operates Burger Kings from Boston to Portland, Maine.

Kohler is a 44-year veteran of the company, working at the corporate level and as a franchisee with 26 restaurants. He did not return a call for comment.

It was unclear at press time if he would assume management of all 16 Burger Kings operated by the Wymans.
