Malaysian Firms Look For VN Franchises

VietNamNet Bridge:

Duad Bin Tahir said Malaysia wanted to become a franchising centre in Asia and that Viet Nam was an ideal destination. Franchising is a new business model in Viet Nam, so there is plenty of opportunities, for foreign investors in the country.

The food and beverage sectors offer the greatest potential, Tahir said. “The two countries have the same liking in food, so Malaysian food and drink brands are confident about coming to Viet Nam,” he said.

Accompanying Tahir to Viet Nam were representatives from 11 Malaysian enterprises operating in the food, education and retail sectors.

There are currently 22 Malaysian firms with franchises in 48 countries, including four in Viet Nam.

Marrybrown, Malaysia’ leading fast-food restaurant chain, plans to open an outlet in Viet Nam next year and is currently looking for a Vietnamese partner, the Thoi Bao Kinh Te Sai Gon (Sai Gon Economic Times) reports.
