Raising Cane’s, a growing chain that specializes in chicken fingers, has bought property on Franklin Avenue’s restaurant row and will open a location there in March or April.
The company bought the former Krystal’s location next door to Cheddar’s in a deal that closed Wednesday. It plans to demolish the building and erect a Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.
Raising Cane’s opened its first restaurant in 1996 near the campus of Louisiana State University. It since has grown to about 80 locations, mostly in the South and Midwest, director of real estate Rick Fuchs said.
“We’re very interested in all markets in Texas, and we like college towns,†Fuchs said, adding that it has restaurants in Dallas, Houston, College Station, Nacogdoches and Lubbock.
The chain specializes in chicken fingers, which diners can dip in a special sauce.
A feature item called the “box combo†includes four chicken fingers, fries, coleslaw, Cane’s sauce, Texas toast and a regular drink and sells for $7.35, said Luke Overman, an operations adviser.
